The preparation for and holding of presidential elections in Ukraine May 25, 2014 reflected a profound transformation in Ukrainian society, including public inquiry on the policy of reconciliation and renewal of the country. At the same time, elections were held in the context of the new challenges and threats Ukraine is facing in connection with the escalation of the crisis to the phase of an organized armed conflict.
